Art Rotterdam 2017
9 – 12 February
Van Nellefabriek
Van Nelleweg 1, Rotterdam

At Art Rotterdam 2017 Gerhard Hofland is proud to present an exhibition with new works by Damien Cadio, Lenz Geerk, Joost Krijnen, Henk Stallinga and Johan Tahon. The presentation is focussed on showing new and innovative painting along sculptures by Johan Tahon and an intriguing installation spatial installation by Henk Stallinga. Joost Krijnen and Lenz Geerk represent a young generation of flat surface artists who are revitalising the traditional media they engage with, while Damien Cadio will be properly introduced to the Dutch audience for the first time.
When discovering the exhibition the works of Cadio, Geerk and Krijnen might appear versatile by nature, but by showing them alongside the sculptures of Tahon will bring out their painterly qualities. Simultaneously, the sculptures generate an atmosphere that directs the presentation towards strong figuration and radiant emotions.
By presenting these elements together with the mechanical and visually stimulating Fanscreen by Henk Stallinga, the spectator is enabled to speculate on the future of image-making. The combination of painting, sculpture and installation invites the spectator to move physically into the booth, rather than to passively gaze at images from a distance.
