Yasat began work on “Der Stapel” (The Stack) in 2014. Initially, this process involved collecting all the artist’s previous works, but it then evolved into an agglomeration not only of artworks, but also of several of the artist’s everyday objects, both meaningful and trivial. As “Der Stapel” evolved, the artist became more radical, his latest works literally discarding all his possessions such as his washing machine, his bed and the only remaining memento of his grandfather. Yasat works on these sculptures until they reach his own size. It’s a self-imposed limit to a never-ending process, because if it were possible, there would only be one incredibly tall “Stapel”.
