THUMB THROUGH THE SLEEVE

a duo exhibition by Lulu Chiadmi and Lotta Tol, opening on Saturday, 25 July. Join us and the artists for the opening from 5–7 pm.

Lotta Tol (b. 2002, the Netherlands) graduated from the HKU this summer and will continue her studies this September at the École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris. She is the winner of the Flowering the Future Award 2026.
Lotta observes and experiments to see what stories might emerge from the images she creates and how that process unfolds. Across her works, elements repeat and mutate, allowing their meaning to shift and expand.

Lulu Chiadmi (b. 2003, Germany) graduated from the HKU this summer and will continue her studies this September at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf under Thomas Scheibitz. She is one of the winners of the Buning Brongers Prijzen 2026.
In Lulu’s paintings, forms surface and recede, colour shifts against itself, paint builds and is scraped back. She constructs small still lifes in the studio as a starting point, but the work quickly takes over. What remains is atmosphere, a feeling the viewer recognises without quite knowing why.
